“The Marvelous Peace of God”
Beginning Sunday October 1st
You are invited to join me to consider what William Alexander Percy meant when he wrote: “Yet [may we] pray for but one thing/—The marvelous peace of God.” Percy wrote his famous hymn in 1924: “They cast their nets in Galilee,” Hymn 661 in our hymnal.
We regularly pray and long for God’s peace—in our hearts, in our lives, in our world—and in our time. How might we live more peace-filled lives? Join us as we plumb the depths of God’s marvelous peace, the peace that passeth all understanding.
We will gather on the following dates: October 1st, 8th, 15th, and November 5thand 12th. Coffee at 9:15 and Class begins at 9:30.
Additionally, while certainly not necessary for Sunday morning discussions, you are invited to read Roger Hutchison’s lovely and instructive book The Art of Calm: Spiritual Exercises for the Anxious Soul. Copies will be available for $20 in both Walton Hall and Guerry Hall.
