The Reverend Canon Calhoun “Callie” Walpole, Vicar
The Reverend Canon Calhoun “Callie” Walpole is a native of John’s Island. She is a graduate of the School of Theology at the University of the South in Sewanee, and Clemson University. She has served for many years as vicar and subdean of Grace Church Cathedral in Charleston, and served as archdeacon of the Diocese of South Carolina during its years of reorganization. In earlier years, Callie taught Spanish at both Burke and Bishop England High Schools in Charleston. She also served as founding lay vicar of Iglesia de San Juan, a Spanish-speaking congregation based at St. John’s Episcopal Church in the early 2000’s. Callie serves as editor of “Carolina Grace: Gold for the Soul,” an occasional journal of meditations. Callie enjoys gardening, kayaking, reading, writing, and history, in addition to all things pertaining to the sea islands of South Carolina.
